Mariann Johansen-Ellis was born in Denmark, but spent most of her child-hood in Sweden. Following in the footsteps of her grandfather, who was a woodcarver and painter, it did however take Mariann until after university to discover that the arts would be her chosen career.
After moving to the south of Spain in 1989 she started a craft business, making and decorating objects in wood, with several outlets along the Costa Del Sol, this business flourished and also took on more of an art aspect when opportunities to create murals and other decorative painting projects opened up.
In 1999, Mariann and her husband moved to Brunei in South East Asia, where she is painting and producing etchings, the following paintings are some of the work that has been generated since moving to Asia.
